Porfírio Zeferino de Sousa

Porfírio Zeferino de Sousa was a Portuguese officer and colonial administrator. Sousa was the governor of the Portuguese Timor colony several times .

The first time Capitão Sousa took over the post of governor in 1883 when Bento da França Pinto de Oliveira resigned from office because his son and a stepchild had died of malaria. In the same year, however, Francisco de Paula Luz took over the leadership. In 1889, Sousa was again acting governor, succeeding Rafael Jácome de Andrade . In 1890, Cipriano Forjaz took over, also in charge . First as government secretary, from 1891 as governor.

In 1893 Major Sousa led the military expedition against the rebellious empire of Maubara . When Forjaz resigned in 1894, Sousa took over the post of governor for the third and last time until the new incumbent José Celestino da Silva arrived.
