Pornchai Sakuntaniyom

Pornchai Sakuntaniyom ( Thai : พร ชัย ศกุน ต นิยม ; * around 1950 ) is a former Thai badminton player . He was one of the leading figures in the sport in Thailand in the 1970s.

Athletic career

In his home country he won the Thai championships in mixed with Thongkam Kingmanee for the first time in 1973 . Two years later he was again in mixed with Thongkam Kingmanee and also won the men's doubles with Preecha Sopajaree . In 1976 he won again in mixed, but this time together with Sawanpim Saithong .

Internationally, he won the Southeast Asian Games in 1973 in mixed gold with Thongkam Kingmanee . At the same event there was also bronze in doubles with Chirasak Champakao and gold with the Thai men's team. At the Asian Games in 1970 he was third in the men's doubles with Chavalert Chumkum .
