Thongkam Kingmanee

Thongkam Kingmanee ( Thai : ทองคำ กิ่ง มณี ; * 1941 ) is a former Thai badminton player . She was one of the most important players in this sport in Thailand in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Career

In 1966 she won her first national title in Thailand when she was successful in doubles with Sumol Chanklum . Both defended the title in 1967, with Kingmanee also winning the individual ranking for the first time that year. After an untitled 1968 she was again successful in singles and doubles with Achara Pattabongse the following year . In 1971 she also won both disciplines. She was able to fight for three individual titles in a row from 1973 to 1975, before it was last enough for a single title in 1978. She won the double ranking six times in a row. In mixed she was successful in 1973 and 1975 with Pornchai Sakuntaniyom .

Internationally she won the silver medal at the Asian Games in 1970 in singles behind Hiroe Yuki and bronze with Sirisriro Patama in 1978 in women's doubles. In 1971 she won gold at the Southeast Asian Games with Achara Pattabongse in women's doubles and silver in singles behind Rosalind Singha Ang .
