Poroto mountains
The mountain range of the Poroto Mountains is part of the southern highlands of Tanzania . It is the ascent to the Kitulo Plateau and runs in an east-west direction parallel to the Mbeya Range opposite the 1,600 m high valley of Mbeya in the north and across to the Livingstone Mountains , which extend from Mount Rungwe to the south, and the Kipengere mountains , the south of the Mtorwi connect -Gipfels to the southeast.
A road leads from Mbeya through the Porotoberge over the Songwe Bridge to Karonga in Malawi .
