The Port Adelaide Football Club is an Australian football team from Port Adelaide , South Australia , in the Australian Football League plays (AFL). Her nickname is "The Power" and her jersey is black, white and teal. The club was founded as Port Adelaide Magpies in 1870 , but did not join the AFL until 1997 under its new name. 2004 succeeded the first and so far only win of the AFL championship.

The Port Adelaide Football Club was founded in 1870, making it the oldest surviving Australian football club in South Australia . For 126 years, the team known as Magpies played in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Port Adelaide won this regional championship 36 times. In 1997 the team, which was now nicknamed Power , was accepted into the AFL. After a few years in the middle of the table, the team rose to a title contender in the new millennium. In 2004 they moved into a Grand Final for the first time and beat the defending champions, the Brisbane Lions , with 113: 73. However, this success has not been repeated since then.

Port Adelaide has more than 50,000 members and various fan groups such as the "Outer Army" or the "Alberton Crowd". Intense rivalries exist with local rivals Adelaide Crows and the Collingwood Magpies .
