Port Bell is a port city within the city limits of Kampala in Uganda near the capital Kampala. The port is used for international goods traffic across Lake Victoria . The city is named after Sir Hesketh Bell , the British envoy to Uganda from 1906 to 1909.
The place also serves as a port for Kampala, which is 10 km away and connected by rail, including the ferries that operate on Lake Victoria.
Via the Uganda Railway , the first section of which was completed in 1901, the place has been connected to Nairobi and Mombasa on the Indian Ocean since the line was expanded in 1931 .
Among other things, there are breweries belonging to the Uganda Breweries company on site.
