Coordinates: 33 ° 11 ′  S , 138 ° 1 ′  E The Regional Council of Port Pirie is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 1761 km² and has about 17,000 inhabitants (2016).

Port Pirie is about 200 kilometers northwest of the metropolis Adelaide a few kilometers inland from the Spencer Gulf . The area includes 26 hamlets and towns: Bungama, Butler Bridge, Clements Gap, Cockeys Crossing, Collinsfield, Coonamia, Crystal Brook, Ingrams Gap, Keilli, Koolunga, Lower Broughton, Merriton, Napperby, Nelshaby, Nurom Siding, Pirie South, Pirie West , Port Pirie , Redhill, Risdon Park, Risdon Park South, Solomontown, Wandearah East, Wandearah Siding, Wandearah West and Warnertown. The council's administrative headquarters are in the city of Port Pirie in the north of the LGA.

The Port Pirie Council has eleven members, the ten councilors and the chairman and mayor of the council are elected by the residents of the LGA. Port Pirie is not divided into districts.
