Portal Tomb by Dunhill

The Portal Tomb of Dunhill ( Irish Dún Aill ) is located on a pasture, on a steep southeast slope in the valley of the Annestown River, not far from the Portal Tombs of Ballynageeragh , in the Copper Coast Geopark in the south of County Waterford in Ireland . In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

The Tomb portal is marked as “ Dolmen ” on the OSI map . The approximately 4.0 m long, 2.7 m wide and 1.2 m thick capstone is supported by a single portal stone. The other portal stone is in the chamber, which is filled with other stones and small field stones.
