The metro station Porte de Bagnolet is an underground station of line 3 of the Paris Métro .
location
The station is located in the Saint-Fargeau district of the 20th arrondissement of Paris . It lies lengthways under the Rue Belgrand at the level of the crossing Rue Martin Garat.
Surname
The eponymous Porte de Bagnolet was a gate in the Thiers wall , through which the municipality of Bagnolet , east of the city, could be reached.
History and description
On April 2, 1971, the station was put into operation in the course of the opening of the eastward swiveling of line 3. At that time, the previous end section from Gambetta to Porte des Lilas became the independent line 3bis and the new route to Gallieni was opened to traffic.
It lies under an elliptical vaulted ceiling and has two side platforms on two main tracks. The side walls follow the curvature of the ellipse. Although only five-car trains can run on Line 3, the station was built with foresight to be 105 m long. There are five entrances from street level, they are marked with a yellow “M” in a double circle. Since December 2012, there has been a transfer option at Boulevard Davout to the T3b line of the Paris tram, which runs on the Boulevards des Maréchaux .
vehicles
From the start, conventional MF 67 series vehicles rolling on steel rails operated at the station . The trains, which were modernized between 2005 and 2008, will continue to be in use there in 2020; from 2028 they are to be replaced by vehicles from the MF 19 series.
Remarks
- ↑ The designation 3bis corresponds to the German 3a
- ↑ Most of the stations on line 3 only have the original Parisian standard length of 75 m
- ↑ Trains run on five lines of the Paris Métro with pneumatic tires on mobile beams
