The Cathedral of Annecy ( Cathédrale Saint-Pierre d'Annecy ) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the French city of Annecy and seat of the Bishop of the diocese of Annecy .
architecture
The cathedral was the beginning of the 16th century by Jacques Rossel as Franciscans - cloister church built. During the French Revolution , the church was used as the temple of the goddess of reason . When the Diocese of Annecy emerged from the Diocese of Chambéry in 1822 , the late Gothic church was elevated to the status of a cathedral.
organ
The cathedral houses a remarkable organ built between 1840 and 1842 by the royal court organ builder Nicolas-Antoine Lété. The organ case in the style of Louis XIV was created by the Gilardi brothers from Annecy. The instrument has been restored, reconstructed and expanded several times. Today it has 32 registers on three manuals and a pedal (approx. 2000 pipes ).
