Portela is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Loures . The community had 11,816 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
Lisbon International Airport is named after the district.
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Portela and Moscavide were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Moscavide e Portela . Portela is the seat of this newly formed community.
