Portobello (nickname "Porty") is a small town about eight kilometers east of Edinburgh (Scotland, Great Britain). The seaside resort is located on the North Sea in the Firth of Forth . The place has existed since Roman times and was called Bodotria in Latin . Portobello is about 40 km east of the town of Bo'ness , where Carriden marked the end point of the Antonine Wall , and 14 km east of Cramond with a Roman fort. Portobello train station opened in 1846 and closed to passenger traffic in 1964.

The sandy beach is a popular destination for residents from the region in summer.
