The porcelain factory Zeh, Scherzer & Co. was a porcelain manufacturer from Rehau ( Upper Franconia ), which existed between 1880 and 1992 and was mainly known for its tableware and artistic porcelain items.

history

The porcelain factory was founded in 1880 as the porcelain factory Zeh, Scherzer & Cie. on the initiative of Johann Nicol Adam Zeh, known as Hans, as a general partnership. Co-founders were Johann Michael Scherzer jun., Georg Adam Winterling, Johann Nicol Jacob jun., Johann Andreas Karl Wölfel, Johann Paulus Hertel. In 1910 the company was converted into a stock corporation that exported over 70 percent of its production to the USA and developed into one of the largest porcelain exporters in Bavaria.

At one point around 1,000 people were employed in two factories. In 1992 the porcelain factory was closed. It was taken over by the financial investor Allerthal-Werke under the name Scherzer & Co. AG .
