Positive Force , later Positive Express , was an American jazz , soul and funk band that Albert Williams and Brenda Reynolds founded as a duo in Pennsylvania .

Band history

The producer Nate Edmunds discovered the duo Positive Force, consisting of Albert Williams and Brenda Reynolds, and made contact with the label Sugar Hill Records of musician Sylvia Robinson ago, already The Sugarhill Gang had put together. Now the vocal formation became an octet and consisted from then on of six men and two women (Brenda Reynolds and Vickie Drayton).

Edmunds wrote the song We Got the Funk with Williams and Reynolds and also took over the production . The single stayed 20 weeks on the Billboard dance charts, reaching number 31. The track developed in the United Kingdom for commercial success and debuted at number 18 of the UK singles chart .

The album named after the band , which also contains downbeat tracks such as Today It Snowed , and the second single Especially for You were released in 1980. Despite appearances in TV shows such as Top of the Pops , neither album nor single could place in the charts. Instead came We Got the Sparks again in the British hit parade: first in 1980 as part of the Disco - medleys Caliber Cuts the project of the same name at No. 75, then in 1986 as a B-side of the split single Rappers Delight / We Got the radio on place 78.

Under the changed band name Positive Express, the album Changin 'Times was created in 1982 for a joint venture between Victory Records and Sugarhill Records. From this the track Not on the Outside was released as a single. Since there was no success this time either, the group split up.
