Post Office 15
The building of the former post office 15 , today Postbank-Finanzcenter Bremen-Westend in Bremen , district Walle , district Westend, Utbremer Straße 97-99, was built in 1931 according to plans by chief post office building officer Karl Martini. This building has been a listed building in Bremen since 1996 .
history
The four-storey building from 1931 was realized in the modernist style of the 1920s ( New Objectivity or New Building ). The building with a flat roof has a red clinker brick facade with structural elements in shell limestone . The post office was on the first floor, the telecommunications office on the upper floor, and an apartment and other offices on the second floor. A mighty coat of arms of the Reichspost hangs over the main entrance on the third floor.
The 235.7 meter high Bremen telecommunications tower was erected behind the building in 1986 .
The State Office for Monument Preservation Bremen found: "Martini succeeded in giving the massive structure a decidedly horizontal orientation through the cantilevered eaves, but especially through the window bands on the first two floors framed by a limestone border ..."
Today a Postbank finance center and a DHL packing station are also housed in the building.
