The Postschneckenstele (or post column ) is a stele in the Marzahn district of the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf .

history

The post screw stele was designed by the sculptor Nikolaus Bode in 1989. From 1989 to 2003 it was located opposite the Marzahn S-Bahn station , at the Marzahner Tor in front of the former main post office. The main post office and the department store were demolished in 2003, the stele was removed for the construction of the new shopping center. Since June 2006 it has been standing on the bus station in front of the Eastgate shopping center . Between 2011 and 2012, the stele was removed during the renovation of the bus station and placed damaged almost at the end of the construction work.

The stele is five meters high and is made of Elbe sandstone . In addition, bronze figures are attached to the vertical edges, the carrier pigeon , two mail horns and a snail .
