Thorsten Goldberg

Thorsten Goldberg (born December 26, 1960 in Dinslaken ) is a German artist .

Life

From 1982 to 1991 Thorsten Goldberg studied sculpture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Inge Mahn .

In 1991 Thorsten Goldberg received the first prize for his photographic work "Class of 97" in the competition for young art, Kunsthalle Kiel , Kunstverein Mannheim, Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg , Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart and Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden .

Together with the screenwriter Wieland Bauder , he created the fictional character Thomas Bauer for joint artistic appearances. As Thomas Bauer, he received a grant for photography from the Berlin Senate in 1991 and took part in the exhibition Art on a World Scale at the Kunsthalle Kiel in 1993.

Since 1995, in addition to photographic and video works, more and more works of art in architecture and art in public spaces have been created .

Thorsten Goldberg is the spokesman for the commission for art in public space of the Kulturwerk in Berlin, member of the KÖR jury Vienna from 2014 to 2016 co-initiator of the project "Clipboard" on art in the large housing estates Marzahn and Hellersdorf and he is the initiator and co-editor of "Public Art Wiki , a thought library “of the internet lexicon on art in public space and editor of several publications on art in public space.

As an artist, Thorsten Goldberg has realized numerous projects across Europe in public spaces and has taught at various technical colleges and art academies. Most recently, he held a teaching position for art in public space at the Art University in Linz and a professorship for art and media at the Muthesius Art University in Kiel.

Thorsten Goldberg is a member of the German Association of Artists , he lives in Berlin.
