The Potter Tarn is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The lake is east of Staveley and west of Potter Fell .

The lake was created as a reservoir for a paper mill. The lake's water level was lowered in 1990 when its dam wall was lowered and a new drain was created.

The derivation of an unnamed river forms the tributary on its north side. The outflow of the lake on its east side reunites with the unnamed river of its tributary. The drain of the Gurnal Dubs to the east also flows into this drain . The unnamed watercourse flows into the River Kent at Bowston north of Burneside .
