Poul Erik Tøjner

Poul Erik Tøjner (born February 25, 1958 in Skanderborg ) is a Danish museum director and art critic . Since 2000 he has been director of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk , Denmark .

Life

Poul Erik Tøjner studied philosophy and Scandinavian studies at the University of Copenhagen , where he obtained his master's degree in 1987 and a licentiate in 1991 with a dissertation on Søren Kierkegaard . As a literary and art critic, he was initially active for the national Danish newspaper Kristligt Dagblad (1984–1987), then for Dagbladet Information (1987–1989) and the weekly newspaper Weekendavisen (1989–2000). At Weekendavisen he was also cultural editor and one of the chief editors from 1997 to 2000. In 2000 he became director of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and in 2007 he became a member of the Danish Academy . He is also a member of the Gyldendal publishing house , the University of Copenhagen and the CL David art collection in Copenhagen.
