background

In August 2015, it was announced that NBC and DC Comics were working on a pilot for the comedy series Powerless . Ben Queen was supposed to be the producer . The series should be designed similarly to the comedy series The Office , but also contain superhero elements, with the focus on the workplace. NBC ordered the pilot in early January 2016. On February 22, 2016, the Hollywood Reporter reported that Vanessa Hudgens will play insurance clerk Emily Locke. The cast of Danny Pudi as Emily's best friend Teddy and Alan Tudyk as Van Wayne, Emily's boss and Bruce Wayne's cousin , were also confirmed that month. The first trailer for Powerless was released in May 2016 .

NBC gave the green light for a twelve-part first season on May 11, 2016 . At San Diego Comic Con , the protagonist, Vanessa Hudgens, claimed that the first assignment she was going to work on was due to Wonder Woman . The characters Jack O'Lantern and Crimson Fox also appear in the series. In December 2016, NBC announced that the pilot episode was premiered on February 2, 2017.

On April 25, 2017, NBC took the series out of its program. The reason for this was the unsatisfactory viewership, with the nine episodes broadcast to date averaging 2.29 million viewers and a rating of 0.71% in the main target group. The series was finally discontinued on May 11, 2017.
