Powerproject (formerly Asta Powerproject ) is a commercial project management software from the software manufacturer Elecosoft . It is used for scheduling, resource and cost planning and is supported by a program extension Building Information Modeling (BIM) . With Powerproject Enterprise, users have the option of planning projects jointly and in real time via a server.

distribution

According to the manufacturer, the software is used by more than 100,000 users worldwide and is available in up to eight languages. In Germany, Powerproject is used by around 8,000 companies for project planning . Most of the professional users come from the construction industry . According to the developer, Powerproject is the standard project management solution in this area in Germany because of its widespread use.

Functions

Network plan technology is the basis for working with Powerproject . The creation and editing tasks , or milestones is done graphically in a bar chart or by definition in a data table. The individual processes can be set in relation to one another using so-called links. Processes can be summarized in cumulative processes or projected (selected) in collective processes.

Scheduling

As a result of the scheduling , Powerproject delivers dates based on the defined processes. End dates (based on the start date) and start dates (based on the end date) are possible. The calculation of the network plan with its links creates the critical path and shows buffer times .

Resource planning

Powerproject can be used to assign work resources , equipment or consumables to processes. Process durations or expenses can then be recalculated using various calculation models. There is also the option of displaying resource overloads and creating deployment plans.

Cost planning

Processes can be assigned costs, which can then be evaluated in payment plans , histograms or text reports.

Project management

The software offers its users the possibility to evaluate projects with various analysis tools and to compare target and actual values with one another.

Print output

Powerproject supports individually adaptable views and the embedding of project plans in self-designed masks for printout, with the help of the additional program Power Draw .

Program extensions

Powerproject BIM

With Powerproject BIM, IFC files can be imported into the project management software. Processes or appointments can then be generated from the 3D model, which can then be incorporated into further project planning.

Powerproject Enterprise

The Powerproject Enterprise extension enables several users to plan one or more joint projects simultaneously using a server.

Site Progress Mobile

With the Site Progress Mobile extension and the app of the same name for mobile devices, the degree of progress or completion of construction projects can be recorded directly on the construction site and then entered into Powerproject.

integration

The software supports data output in various file formats, such as. B. Text, HTML and MS-Project XML . Through this and the possibility to expand the program with macros , Powerproject can be integrated into existing systems.

history

Powerproject was programmed under the name "Asta Powerproject" by the British developer Asta Development plc. In 2009, Asta Development was taken over by the British Eleco plc, which renamed Elecosoft plc in 2015 and under whose umbrella Asta Powerproject is being further developed. The software has been advertised internationally as a power project since spring 2018.

In Germany, the software was distributed by the company "Management & Software in Construction", founded in Karlsruhe in 1991. In 2000 the company changed its name to Asta Development GmbH. The company now belongs to Elecosoft plc and is the German Powerproject branch of the British group based in Karlsruhe .
