The prefecture of Osaka University ( jap. 大阪府立大学 , Osaka Furitsu daigaku , short Fudai ( 府大 ) Daifudai ( 大府大 ) or Hanfudai ( 阪府大 ); Engl. Osaka Prefecture University , in short: OPU ) is a public university in Japan . The main campus (Nakamozu Campus) is located in Naka-ku, Sakai in Osaka Prefecture .

history

The university was founded in 2005 through the merger of the three prefectural universities. The three were the (older) Prefecture of Osaka University , the Women's College Osaka ( 大阪女子大学 , Osaka joshi daigaku ) and the prefectural nursing college Osaka ( 大阪府立看護大学 , Osaka Furitsu kango daigaku ).

The story of the three predecessors is as follows:

Osaka Prefecture (Senior) University

The university was founded in 1949 as Naniwa University ( 浪 速 大学 , Naniwa daigaku ). In 1955 it was renamed Osaka Prefectural University . Naniwa University had five predecessors: two state and three prefectural colleges.

The oldest origin, the Veterinary College ( 獣 医学 講習 所 , Jūigaku kōshūjo ), was founded in 1883 at the Osaka Prefectural Medical School . The veterinary course moved to the Osaka Prefectural Agricultural School , founded in 1888 ( 大阪 府 立 農 学校 , Ōsaka-furitsu nōgakkō ). In 1942 the veterinary course at the agricultural school developed into the Osaka Higher Veterinary School ( 大阪 高等 獣 医 学校 , Ōsaka kōtō jūi gakkō ), which in 1945 was renamed the Osaka Veterinary and Animal Husbandry School ( 大阪 獣 医 畜産 専 門 学校 , Ōsaka jūi chikusan semmon gakkō ). The technical school and the agricultural school Osaka ( 大阪 農業 専 門 学校 , Ōsaka nōgyō semmon gakkō , founded in 1944) were the predecessors of the agricultural faculty (today the faculty of biological and environmental sciences).

The main origin was the Osaka State Technical School ( 大阪 工業 専 門 学校 , Ōsaka kōgyō semmon gakkō , renamed 1944), which was founded in 1939 as the Osaka Higher Technical School ( 大阪 高等 工業 学校 , Ōsaka kōtō kōgyō gakkō ). Its former location is now the main part of the Nakamozu campus. The technical center offered courses in mechanical engineering, power engineering, electronics, metallurgy, etc .; it had no courses in architecture or civil engineering because it was founded during the war. The Osaka Technical Center and the Prefectural Chemical Technical Center ( 大阪 府 立 化学 工業 専 門 学校 , Ōsaka-furitsu kagaku kōgyō semmon gakkō , founded in 1943) were the predecessors of the Faculty of Engineering.

The fifth origin was the state normal youth school Osaka ( 大阪 青年 師範学校 , Ōsaka his shihan gakkō , reorganized in 1944), which was established in 1935 as a prefectural teacher training institute for youth schools in Osaka ( 大阪 府 立 青年 学校 教員 養成 所 , Ōsaka-furitsu his gakkōse kyōin yōin yōin yōin yōin yōin yōin ) Founded. The normal school was the predecessor of the Faculty of Education (closed in 1957).

Osaka Women's University

The origin of the Osaka Women's University was founded in 1924 as the Osaka Prefectural Women's College ( 大阪 府 女子 専 門 学校 , Ōsaka-fu joshi semmon gakkō ). It was the second public women's technical school in Japan. The campus was at the Mandaiike (or Bandaiike, 万 代 池 ) pond in Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka. In 1949 it developed into the Osaka Women's University . In 1976 she moved to the Daisen Campus (next to Daisenryō- Kofun ), the former location of the Faculty of Agriculture at Osaka Prefectural University.

Osaka Prefectural Nursing College

It was founded in 1978 as a two-year nursing college. In 1994 it evolved into the four-year Osaka Prefectural Nursing College . Your location is the Habikino campus.
