The Turistická Chata in the Prachau rocks

The Prachovské skály (German: Prachauer Felsen ) are located in the far east of the "Bohemian Paradise" ( Český ráj ) nature reserve, south of the Turnov - Jičín road and north of the Mladá Boleslav - Jičín road .

Due to the location of the rocks on the valley side, they are not as dominant in the landscape as z. B. in the Hrubá skála . The rocks of the area consist entirely of medium-hard to soft sandstone and have a high vertical structure. The center of the area is the Turistická Chata, which is located in a valley a little west of the Skalní Město hotel.

In the 8th century there was a Slavic rampart that used the natural conditions of the rock to improve the defensive power.

The entire area is under nature protection . The rock city itself can only be entered against admission. It is a popular recreational area for climbing and hikers. The best-known rock formations are the Raven Rocks and the Prachauer Nadel und Mütze. Climbing has been going on here since 1908. The tourist development of the area began as early as the 19th century.

Pařez Castle is located northwest of the Prachau Rocks .
