Prakash John

Prakash John (born August 1, 1947 in Mumbai , India ) is an Indian-Canadian rock and R&B bassist . He lives in Mississauga , Canada .

life and work

Prakash John got to know European classical music ( Bach , Mozart and others) already in India . The family emigrated to Toronto in 1960 , where he met African-American musicians who introduced him to the blues . At the age of 17 he started playing the electric bass and performed in several smaller bands.

At the beginning of the 1970s he went to Los Angeles and worked as a guest musician in various bands ( Edgar Winters White Trash, Derek and the Dominos ). In 1971 George Clinton hired him temporarily for his projects Parliament and Funkadelic ( Chocolate City and America Eats Its Young ). He later appeared in several backing bands - such as Lou Reed's Rock 'n' Roll Animal (1974). He has appeared on several albums for Alice Cooper : Welcome to My Nightmare (1975), The Alice Cooper Show (1977), Lace and Whiskey (1977) and DaDa (1983).

In 1979 he returned to Toronto and formed the R&B band The Lincolnns , with whom he recorded two albums ( Take One and Funky Funky Funky ). The band still exists, but his son Jordan has now taken over the leadership.

Prakash John is married and has two grown sons (Jordan and Julien) who are also in the music business.
