Prankenstein was a German TV show that was broadcast on ProSieben and was about playing pranks on someone. The last episode of the show appeared on August 25, 2016. The team consisted of Lena Gercke , winner of Germany's Next Top Model , actor Antoine Monot, Jr. , musician Daniel Wiemer , and TV presenter Jan Stremmel .

People were played pranks on the show. A hidden camera filmed the reaction of those affected. Both ordinary citizens and celebrities have been tricked . The concept of the program was based on comparable programs such as Do you understand fun? and prank videos on YouTube .

Production and broadcast

The show was produced in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, a pilot episode was broadcast which, at 1.24 million in total (5.6%) and 0.86 million for 14 to 49-year-old viewers (12.3% market share), had a mediocre audience rating. Four more episodes were broadcast in 2016. After that the show was stopped. Before that, she had to struggle with low ratings. The four episodes reached an average of 1.06 million viewers and, with a 3.4 percent market share, were below the average. The young target group with an average audience rating of 0.87 million viewers instead of an average of almost 3 million was not reached as planned. The first episode was broadcast on ProSieben on August 22, 2015 .

criticism

Both the concept of the show and the pranks were often described by the media as unimaginative and as copies of comparable formats. In addition, the content is artificially inflated. The position and role of Lena Gercke was particularly criticized.
