Pratt & Whitney Wasp

Pratt & Whitney Wasp (from English "Wasp") is the name of a family of aircraft engines from the US manufacturer Pratt & Whitney , which were manufactured from 1925 to 1960. A total of around 400,000 of the air-cooled radial engines were built in various versions, including almost 300,000 of the two types R-1830 and R-2800.

Note: The designation describes the type of engine and displacement . "R" stands for "radial" (radial engine), followed by a number that indicates the size of the displacement in cubic inches . One cubic inch corresponds to 16.387064 cm³ , so the largest engine with 4360 cubic inches has a displacement of 71.25 liters.
