Praxedis Geneviève Hug (* 1984 in Zurich ) is a Swiss pianist . Together with her mother, the harpist Praxedis Hug-Rütti , she forms the Duo Praxedis .

Life

Praxedis Geneviève Hug received her first piano lessons at the age of five. Between 1994 and 2000 she was taught by Theo Lerch, winner of the Huber Foundation in Zurich . She later put her piano studies at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale under the patronage of Vladimir Dawidowitsch Aschkenasi . In this context, the press becomes aware of them. B. the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.it. She continued her studies with Riccardo Risaliti in Florence , they appear repeatedly in the same festivals, ultimately at the Lamole Festival. She received musical impulses and support from Shura Cherkassky, Wolfgang Boettcher , Pierre Amoyal , Rudolf Baumgartner and Kristian Zimerman.

In 1998 she won first prize at the Solothurn music competition for instrumental music and in 1997 first prize “with distinction” at the Swiss youth music competition.

In 1998 she founded the piano trio IMPERIAL together with two other first prize winners of the Swiss Music Competition, the last of which was Bartlomiej Niziol, violin, and Emil Rovner, violoncello, which was awarded the prize of the "Orpheus Concerts Zurich" association in 2000. The local press reported on the concert on April 3, 2009 in Unterägeri.

In November 2000 she obtained the concert qualification diploma, in spring 2001 the teaching diploma and in summer 2003 the soloist diploma, all “with distinction”. In 2004 she gave her debut recital in the Tonhalle Zurich . In 2011 she played in the Brahms Hall of the Musikverein Vienna , the Schumann-Chopin Variations were recorded live on site. Her concert activities include piano recitals in Switzerland and abroad and chamber music concerts with ensembles etc. a. the Amati Quartet.

Since 2009 Geneviève Praxedis Hug has mainly given concerts with Praxedis Hug-Rütti , under the name Duo Praxedis, concerts at home and abroad. In 2015 original Classics was published with original works for harp and piano from the late 18th century. The album was reviewed by print and online magazines, including Concerti , the online blog HarpColumn and Planet Hugill .
