Predrag Ostojic ( Serbian : Предраг Остојић * 22. February 1938 in Kraljevo , † 5. July 1996 in Mainz ) was a Yugoslav grandmaster in chess .

He took part with the Yugoslav national team in the student world championships in 1962, 1963 and 1964. In 1962 in Marienbad and 1963 in Budva his team reached second place, in 1963 he also won an individual gold medal for his result of 5 out of 5 on the second reserve board. Ostojić became International Master in 1968 . In 1968 and 1971 he won the championship of Yugoslavia. Further successes were victories in San Juan , Puerto Rico 1971, São Paulo 1973, Vrnjačka Banja 1975 and Sandefjord 1976.

The World Chess Federation FIDE awarded him the title of Grandmaster in 1975 . In 1980 he was also appointed International Referee .

Ostojić lived in Germany for a long time and played with SV Oberursel in the Hessenliga and with FTG Frankfurt in the 2nd Bundesliga . His last Elo rating was 2320, his highest rating of 2495 he had in January 1976. Before the introduction of the Elo numbers, Ostojić's highest historical rating was 2563 in August 1968.

Ostojić died by suicide .
