George Seaton

George Seaton ; Born as George Stenius (born April 17, 1911 in South Bend , Indiana , † July 28, 1979 in Beverly Hills , Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter , film director and film producer .

Life

George Seaton began a career as a radio announcer in Detroit , Michigan .

In 1954 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Director" for his work in the film The Country Girl with Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly nominated in the lead roles. For his performance as a screenwriter, he was able to take home the Oscar in the “Best Adapted Screenplay” category for both the 1947 Christmas film The Miracle of Manhattan and the 1954 film drama A Country Girl . Seaton was honored in 1961 with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award , which is presented for special humanitarian services in the interests of the film industry.

George Seaton died of cancer on July 28, 1979 in Beverly Hills.
