history
Evidence of the first settlement in the region and the establishment of the place go back to 1908, when white settlers from Europe immigrated to the region. In 1913 Prelate was granted Village status .
The post office was established in 1914, one year after Prelates was incorporated as a village. The Church of St. Peter and Paul, also known as Blumenfeld Church , was built the following year and is located about 15 km outside of the town center. The building is now a listed building and once served the German Catholics and the prelate , who lived in the town in the early 20th century. Not far from the church there is a cemetery with a field stone shrine.
