Premier Inn is a hotel brand from Great Britain based in Dunstable (UK) and a subsidiary of the traditional British hospitality company Whitbread PLC . With over 800 hotels and 80,000 rooms in the UK and Ireland, Premier Inn is the leading hotel operator in Great Britain and has been expanding in the German hotel market since 2016. Premier Inn GmbH is based in Frankfurt am Main . There are other Premier Inn hotels in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar . In 2018/2019 the company had around 35,000 employees worldwide (including restaurants).

The hotel chain was founded in 1987 by the Whitbread concern and initially operated under the name Travel Inn . After the takeover of Premierlodge in 2004, the hotels were renamed Premier Travel Inn and soon afterwards Premier Inn .

Premier Inn hotels are often located in city centers, but occasionally also in the country, in commercial areas or at airports and appeal to both leisure and business travelers. The rooms have a fairly uniform standard with a double bed and private bathroom and are based on the three-star range in the premium economy segment . The price structure differentiates between weekdays and weekends and is based on a dynamic price model.
Premier Inn in Germany
The group plans to operate at least 20 hotels in Germany by 2020 and to grow beyond that.
The first Premier Inn in Germany was opened in Frankfurt am Main in 2016 as the "Premier Inn Frankfurt Messe" (Europaallee / Messeviertel) with 210 rooms, followed in February 2019 by the "Premier Inn Hamburg City" (center / on the former Spiegel site) with 182 rooms. In autumn 2019 the first of two other hotels in Munich was opened, the “Premier Inn Munich City Schwabing” (in the Schwabing-Freimann district) with 197 rooms. The "Premier Inn Munich City" (center) followed in 2020.
At the beginning of 2020, Premier Inn completed the takeover of a portfolio of 13 hotels across Germany. After a gradual renovation phase, the hotels open between the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the same year. Another branch of the hotel chain will also open in Hamburg in 2020 , the “Premier Inn Hamburg St. Paul i” with 219 rooms. Further hotel openings are planned in Leipzig and Essen as well as in Stuttgart and in Hamburg at the Berliner Tor in the following years. A total of 52 locations in over 20 major cities have already been secured.
The German real estate business of Premier Inn takes place under the direction of Michael Hartung. Further purchases are planned in the 50 largest cities in Germany, initially in Aachen , Karlsruhe and Würzburg .
As an employer, Premier Inn organizes so-called “recruiting events” to look for employees in Germany and supplements these through cooperation with refugee initiatives. Together with the parent company, the company has committed itself to preventing slavery and human trafficking in the “Modern Slavery Statement”.
