The Prentlhof is a former hunting lodge in Vienna's 10th  district of Favoriten , in the Unterlaa district at Klederinger Straße 169. It was built in the time of Maria Theresa under the name Thurner Hof . The first owner (and presumably namesake) is no longer known; later the farm passed into the possession of the Maltese (Johanniter) knights and is now a listed building .

The building and its history

The farm is located southwest of Unterlaaer Platz at Klederinger Stråße 169 (formerly Unterlaa No. 16). It was once part of a hunting lodge from the 18th century that was created by merging two farms. The farm bears its current name after the Prentl family, since the farm was acquired by Joseph (1793–1871) and Katharina Prentl at the end of the 1830s. Their son Georg Prentl (1846-1903) and his son Josef Prentl ( 1890-1949 ) were mayors of Unterlaa. A remarkable heraldic cartouche with the figure of "Maria Immaculata" and the Austrian imperial crown can be seen above the entrance gate. On the first floor there are still rooms with ceiling and wall paintings depicting hunting scenes. A gilded wooden chandelier from Maria Theresa's time was restored a few years ago and is now decorating the baroque rooms again.

From the row of windows and the protruding walls in between, you can tell that part of the house, almost half, burned down at some point. The Prentlhof is now owned by the Sandbichler family, because an heiress, Prentl's great-granddaughter Friederike, married a Werner Sandbichler.

The Prentlhof is still inhabited and managed by the descendants of the Prentl family.

Opposite in Unterlaaer Straße 32 is the old undershot mill next to the Liesingbach .
