The Presolana saxifrage ( Saxifraga presolanensis ) is a species in the genus saxifrage ( Saxifraga ) in the family Saxifragaceae (Saxifragaceae). The species is named after the Monte Presolana site in the Bergamasque Alps.
features
The Presolana saxifrage is a perennial plant that can reach heights of up to 15 centimeters. It is covered with yellow-green long glandular hairs and forms dense, soft cushions. The rosette leaves are 12 to 15 millimeters long, narrow-spatulate to elongated-lanceolate , covered with roof tiles, with entire margins and glandular hairs on the edge and on the surfaces. Dead and dry leaves are silver-gray in color. The stem is thin, glandular, has few leaves and 2 to 4 flowers. The petals are 3 to 4 millimeters long, pale yellow-greenish, distant and narrowly wedge-shaped to linear. They are narrower than the sepals and often have margins and small teeth.
Flowering time is from July to August.
The species has chromosome number 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The Presolana saxifrage is found only in the Bergamasque Alps on steep and overhanging limestone cliffs, in caves and crevices at altitudes of 1750 to 2350 meters.
