Preston School of Industry is an American indie rock band .

history

The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist and singer Scott Kannberg in Stockton, California after his former band Pavement split up due to artistic differences between Kannberg and Stephen Malkmus .

The band's debut album was released in 2001. On the following tour, Kannberg was accompanied by the two musicians Dan and Maureen, as well as by Jim Lindsay from the band Oranger from San Francisco. The next album, Monsoon , followed in 2004, and musicians from the bands The Minus 5 and Wilco were also involved in its creation .

After a tour of Australia in the summer of 2004, the band withdrew. At the end of 2006, however, Kannberg stated in an interview that he was working very slowly on a new album and did not know exactly when it would be released.

In the USA the band is signed to Matador Records . In the UK, Domino Records released an EP with five of the band's songs.
