Pretoria Portland Cement ( PPC Ltd. for short ) is a South African cement manufacturer with nine production sites in South Africa, Zimbabwe , Botswana and Rwanda . The company produces eight million tons of cement annually. It also produces metallurgical lime , burnt dolomite and limestone and exports cement and lime to various African countries.
The company was founded in 1892 as De Eerste Cement Fabrieken Bepdienstleistungen and is now one of the largest companies in southern Africa . PPC has held a stake in the Ethiopian Habesha Cement Share Company (HCSCo) since 2012 , with the stake being increased to 51%.
