The ES 4 is an unfinished express train locomotive of the Prussian State Railways .

history

In 1909 it was commissioned from Krauss together with three other locomotives for tests with electric traction on the Bitterfeld – Dessau railway line . It soon came to the conclusion that four driven axles in electric locomotives are more suitable for steeper terrain, which is why the locomotive was officially assigned to the Wroclaw Railway Directorate. After the extremely poor test results of its sister machine Preußische EG 501 Halle , the ES 4 was never equipped with electricity and the shell was deleted from the inventory in 1923.
