At a crossroads in the old part of the cemetery in Venn, which is dominated by the high cross built in 1885, is the grave of the first priest Ferdinand Mürriger from Venn, who died in 1896 . The grave monument, made of bluestone , sculptured and scratched, is based on the typology of one of the most popular and widespread motifs in sepulchral architecture during the second half of the 19th century, the Gothic buttress . The buttress closes here with a small crossfrom. The building type 'Gothic buttress' identifies the buried as 'the pillar of the church'. The three-tiered buttress rises above a base plate. An inscription plate is mounted in the substructure bearing the text:

Pray / for your first pastor / the revered Lord / Ferdinand Mürriger / geb. 1834 + 1896

In the middle part of the pillar there is a chalice with a host and stole , in the niche of the superstructure the figure of the Good Shepherd stands on a small console . The corners of the gable-shaped pillar end show four small, crenellated turrets. The base of a small shaft cross rises from the ridge with a broad, likewise crenellated base. For reasons of local history and art history, the object is worth protecting as a monument.
