Prince Far I.

Prince Far I , actually Michael James Williams , (* 1944 in Spanish Town in Jamaica , † September 15, 1983 in Jamaica) was a Jamaican music producer. He is one of the founders of the dub genre. He was a producer and singer and is characterized by an exceptionally deep and voluminous bass voice. Prince Far I was a Rastafarian .

On his first records he was called King Cry Cry . Prince Far I founded his own record label Cry Tuff in 1978 . He released several records on On-U Sound Records and was Adrian Sherwood's musical mentor.

In 1983 he was shot at while breaking into his home in Kingston . A little later he died of the consequences in the hospital.
