The Prinz-Philippe-Stadion is a football stadium in the Belgian municipality of Kelmis in the province of Liege . It is the second largest football stadium in the German-speaking Community of Belgium and the home of the RFC Union Kelmis football club .
history
The stadium was built in the early 1990s. In 2012 and 2013 it was expanded for € 685,000 and expanded to include a covered grandstand, four new changing rooms and a meeting room. 60 percent of the project was financed by the German-speaking Community, the remainder from the association and the Kelmis community. Also in 2013 the stadium was given artificial turf for € 450,000 to € 500,000 .
Stadium name
The stadium is named after the current Belgian King Philippe , who inaugurated the stadium as a prince. A change of name to König-Philippe-Stadion is not planned.
