The Royal Football Club Union La Calamine , RFCU Kelmis for short, is a Belgian football club from Kelmis . He currently plays in the sixth class provincial class 1 and for many years was the second most successful football club in the German-speaking community of Belgium after KAS Eupen .
history
Since its inception in 1923, the RFCU Kelmis has spent most of its time in the provincial classes of Liège amateur football. It was not until the 1960s that the promotion to promotion (fourth Belgian league and lowest league at national level) was achieved for the first time. After having even slipped back into the 2nd provincial class (7th division) in the meantime, greater success was only to be achieved after the Kelmis entrepreneur Egide Sebastian took over the presidency in the early 1990s. In the 2003/04 season, the club was promoted to the 3rd Division B for the first time and was able to hold out there for five seasons before it went back to promotion for two years. Since the 2011/12 season, the club was even third-rate. After relegation, you will only play in the fifth-class 3rd Division B in the 2018/19 season, from which you will be ranked 15th in the summer of 2019. had to enter the Liège provincial class.
Track record
In 2004 and 2011, the club was champion in Promotion D (4th Belgian league) and thus rose to the 3rd division. At the end of the 2005/06 season they could celebrate the best placement in the club's history with 3rd place in 3rd Division B. Including the 2017/18 season, the RFCU has so far spent a total of 26 seasons in national leagues (eight in the 3rd division B and fourteen in the promotions A, C and D).
