Prince of Peoria is an American sitcom that airs on Netflix .
action
Thirteen-year-old Emil is the heir to the throne of the island kingdom of Buronia. To qualify as an exchange student Noble non-citizens experience life as a normal, he goes to a replacement family in the city of Peoria, Illinois ( United States ) and keeps his identity a secret.
There he meets his exchange boy, the overzealous Teddy, who is the opposite of his character. Despite all of this, the two become friends and experience many adventures together with Teddy's mother Regina, Emil (Joseep) 's secret spy and his schoolmates. Care is always taken to hide Emil's true identity in order not to let him get exposed. Teddy also tries to get closer to his love Sydney in the course of the series.
Characters
- Emil : Thirteen-year-old Emil is the heir to the throne of the king of the island kingdom of Peoria and goes undercover as an exchange student in Teddy's family. He is very energetic, but also sometimes naive and wants to get to know the simple life and enjoys almost everything. This makes him the opposite of Teddy. He tries to keep his identity a secret so that he is not found out, which sometimes means that he has to look for excuses.
- Teddy : Teddy is the son of the single mother Regina, where Emil also lives as an exchange student. He is very inquisitive and interested in tinkering and technology, especially robots. He's also rather fearful and reserved, phlegmatic, a little cynical when it comes to crazy ideas. He's in love with Sydney, but doesn't dare to confess to her.
- Regina : Is the mother of Teddy and looks after Emil as an exchange student. She works at a bowling alley and is in love with Emil (Joseep) 's spy, but who hides his true identity from her.
- Sydney : Is Teddy's secret love and likes him, although she has different interests than him and is more open. She is popular in school. She is also friends with Braughner and Emil.
- Joosep : Is the spy who should secretly take care of Emil's security and keep his identity secret. In order to keep his own identity secret, he slips into several roles. He is in love with Regina.
- Braughner : Is the friend of the boys and Sydney and is considered cheeky, assertive and kleptomaniacal.
- Tanner : Is a bit stupid and rude and tries to get together with Sydney. He is therefore a competitor for Teddy.

The German synchronization took over the Berliner Synchron company SDI, for a dialogue book and the dialogue director Andreas Hinz.

Production and publication
The series was first announced on January 31, 2018. The first season of the series with eight episodes aired on November 16, 2018 in several languages (including English and German) exclusively on Netflix . Netflix's goal is to be able to compete with producers of children's and youth series such as Disney and Nickelodeon . The sitcom was developed and produced by Nick Stanton and Devin Bunje , who already worked for pretty much everything for the Disney XD series Gamer's Guide . A Christmas special is also to be broadcast on December 14, 2018 .

According to film-rezensions.de, the series emphasizes the contrast between the two friends, which is well embodied by the actors, but shows weaknesses in the plot, character development and the jokes.
