History and architecture

The two-storey plastered building with a mezzanine was built in 1854/55 as the second spa building. In the following years, it was used by Duke Adolf von Nassau as accommodation for his hunts in the nearby Senne. The richly structured facade in the arched style faces the park. The interior was extensively rebuilt in 1979. The lateral axes are emphasized by pilaster strips , the surfaces are differentiated by grooves, ashlar and smooth surfaces. The entrance in the central risalit under an arbor is accessible via an outside staircase.

Todays use

For the World Exhibition Expo 2000 , an information and documentation center “Nature conservation and the military on the Senne military training area” was set up in the Prinzenpalais. In 2015 the Naturschutzbund (NABU) Kreisverband Paderborn renewed the exhibition "Fascination Senne" on the 1st floor with the support of the Environment and Development Foundation. Since then, NABU has been operating the facility under the name "NABU Nature Information Center Senne im Prinzenpalais".

In 2016 the building will be modernized with the support of the NRW Foundation, a communication and seminar area will be created on the ground floor, in which NABU will offer environmental education. On the 2nd floor there are rooms for some Bad Lippspring clubs, among them the Kolping music club.
