Priocnemis minuta is a Hymenoptera from the family of wasps (Pompilidae).
features
The animals reach a body length of 4 to 6.5 millimeters (females) or 2.5 to 5 millimeters (males). The females of this species can be distinguished from the other species of the genus Priocnemis by their red-brown thorax .
Occurrence
The species occurs in southern and central Europe and east to Central Asia. It settles on dry and temperature-favored slopes with loose tree vegetation. The animals fly in two generations from early June to late September. The species is rare in Central Europe.
Way of life
Females of Priocnemis minuta lay their nests in previously inspected cavities, into which a spider is introduced as larval food . The adults only rarely fly to flowers.
