Brewery, beer garden & inn

The Waldhaus private brewery is based in the village of the same name, Waldhaus, a district of Weilheim in the Hotzenwald , around 800 meters above sea level. It was founded in 1833 and is still privately owned today. The brewery has an annual output of around 100,000 hl. An inn with a beer garden are attached to it.

history

In 1833, Altvogt Dietsche from Remetschwiel bought the forest house Waldhaus on the road Waldshut - St. Blasien and built the Waldhaus brewery on this property. 13 years later he lost the entire building in a fire caused by a lightning strike. In the same year, the reconstruction began about 200 meters further south where the Waldhaus private brewery is now located.

In 1894, Johann Schmid acquired the brewery with its inn and agriculture from the then independent community of Bannholz and is thus the progenitor of the Schmid family. In 1939 he handed over the business to his eldest son Friedrich, with an annual output of 3500 hl at the time; 30 years later, his son Helmar Schmid took over the brewery with an annual output of 10,000 hl. His son Dieter Schmid has been managing director since 1997 and one of the participants in the ARD project Von Null auf 42 in 2004 .

In June 2014, construction began on a 4,600 square meter logistics center with a total volume of 50,800 cubic meters. It was put into operation in July 2015 and inaugurated on October 18.

One of the company's trademarks is the use of natural hops, which only around two percent of all breweries in Germany use, i.e. no hop extract or hop pellets.

The Waldhaus private brewery is a member of the trade association for industrial companies in Baden .
