The Prodrive P2 is a concept vehicle from the manufacturer Prodrive . The two-seater sports car was presented in January 2006 in Birmingham at the "Autosport International" auto show. The platform of the Subaru R1 was used as the basis . The design of the vehicle comes from Peter Stevens who was responsible for the design of the McLaren F1 .
The basis for the development of the engine was the Prodrive Subaru EJ207 boxer engine with overhead camshaft , 2.0 l displacement and 222 kW / 300 PS, as it has also been used in almost all Impreza WRX STi and World-Rallye Impreza models since 1998 finds. The engine was heavily modified by Prodrive to meet the high demands of motorsport, since the P2 was to serve as the basis for future rally and touring car models of the Impreza. The English car show Top Gear , which was able to test a copy, stated the output as 345 bhp (this corresponds to around 257 kW / 350 PS). The editorial staff of Top Gear measured the acceleration from 0-60 mph 3.8 seconds, which corresponds approximately to the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h, the top speed was measured with 174 mph (280 km / h). With these values and active (electronically controlled) center and rear axle differentials (called "Active Torque Dynamics" by Prodrive), the Prodrive P2 achieved a power lap time of 1: 24.3 minutes on the Top Gear test course, making it a winner in the top Gear test other sports cars such as the Ford GT40 , Audi R8 , Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder or a Porsche 911 Carrera S .
In addition, the P2 was equipped with an anti-lag system that came from the WRC Impreza, a system that is very rarely used in street-legal cars. According to Prodrive, the P2 could be mass-produced for a client at a retail price of £ 40,000 , but Prodrive itself does not plan to mass-produce the P2.
