From September 1st to 3rd, 1983, a blockade took place in the Mutlanger Heide . Dozens of famous people took part in it. It was therefore called the celebrity blockade. With their seated demonstration in front of the US airfield in Mutlangen, around 1,000 people protested against the planned deployment of nuclear Pershing II missiles . The following took part in the blockade: Nobel laureates in literature Heinrich Böll and Günter Grass , Green politicians Petra Kelly and Gert Bastian , theologians Helmut Gollwitzer and Norbert Greinacher , actors Barbara Rütting and Dietmar Schönherr, and rhetoric professor Walter Jens . The celebrity blockade was organized by non-violent action groups and the secretary of the Committee for Democracy and Fundamental Rights, Klaus Vack . The three-day blockade was tolerated. There were no evictions. Only after the stationing of the Pershing II were blockers arrested in Mutlangen and received reports of coercion under Section 240 of the Criminal Code.
