Propellerheads was a big beat electronic music band . It was founded in Bath ( England ) in 1996 by Alex Gifford and Will White.

The debut album of the British combo Decksandrumsandrockandroll was released in 1998. The album follows the basic principle of the big beat, which was shaped by bands like The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers . The Propellerheads slightly varied this electronic style with elements from jazz and classical music.

The group also varied the opening piece of the James Bond film On Her Majesty (On her Majesty's Secret Service), which on the compilation Shaken and Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project by David Arnold was released.

In 1996 the band released the single Take California . Another single, History Repeating, featured singer Shirley Bassey . Alex Gifford also participated in 1999 largely on the album VIP the Jungle Brothers .

Another well-known release is the song Spybreak !, which is part of the soundtrack for the movie Matrix .

Bang on! (1998) was used in Wipeout 64 .
