Prophetstown State Park is a State Park in Battle Ground , in Tippecanoe County of the US state of Indiana . The state park is a few miles north of Lafayette . It is 8.1 km² and was opened in 2004. It is Indiana’s youngest state park. The park is home to the Prophetstown open-air museum . The museum consists of a replica of an Indian settlement and a farm from the 1920s.
The park got its name from the former Indian settlement Prophetstown, which was nearby. Prophetstown, also known as Tippecanoe, is named after the Shawnee prophet Tenskwatawa ("The Prophet"), the brother of the well-known Indian leader Tecumseh .
