Prosper Donderer

Prosper Donderer (born May 5, 1715 in Wald-Michelbach ; † June 26, 1779 in Kreuzlingen ) was abbot of the Kreuzlingen Monastery from 1760 to 1779.

Prosper Donderer studied Catholic theology at the University of Dillingen and the University of Augsburg . In 1731 he joined the order of the Augustinian Canons in the Augustinian Canons' Monastery in Kreuzlingen ; made his profession in 1732 and was ordained priest in 1738 .

He was governor of the Upper Propstei Riedern am Wald and was elected abbot of the Kreuzlingen monastery in 1760 as the successor to Johann Baptist Dannegger . In addition to tasks in monastic life and education, he was involved in the pastoral care of nine neighboring parishes. He was committed to the expansion of the library and the collegiate school as well as numerous structural measures for the monastery. He redesigned the church and monastery in the Rococo style.
