Prosveshchenye

Prosweschtschenije ( Russian Просвещение - Enlightenment ) is a former Soviet, now Russian school book publisher . It was founded in 1930 under the name Utschpedgis ( Russian Учпедгиз ). In 1942 he was evacuated to Kirov . Between 1950 and 1990 Prosweschcheniye published textbooks for all types of schools and teacher training institutions, as well as literature for reading outside of school, for the whole of the Soviet Union. In 1994, with the introduction of the "Education Act", the publishing house lost its monopoly.

In 2011 Prosweschtschenije was Russia's third largest publisher after AST and Exmo .

In 2013 the oligarch Arkadi Rotenberg took over the publishing house.
